Southern Life Church Inc. The Gold Coast or Carrum Downs?
Tue, Dec 8 2009
On Sunday the 18th November 2007 Paul & Lesley Lansdown along with six friends started meeting together in their home in Beaumaris Melbourne.
After being employed in fulltime ministry since 1998 they knew the Lord was calling them to plant a Church.
They had many visions, dreams, and words of confirmation about this new work. They started a casual get together in a relaxed atmosphere. On the third week twenty people turned up. Although they wanted to be called to the Gold Coast, they were being called to Carrum Downs.
They immediately began looking for a house that would be big enough to conduct a Church service for twenty people. After numerous failed attempts to lease a house in this they began to ask if God had other plans. Within days a new 900 sq meter office warehouse was located in Carrum Downs. Although it was not their plan to move this quickly they took the step of faith and on the 2nd December began meeting in the upstairs office of this building that seated 50 people.
Two weeks later they had 40 people in attendance. Before they moved in the Lord had already provided them the provision to transform the warehouse into an auditorium that could seat up to 480 people. Although overwhelmed by this, they figured if it was God’s plan and they built it, He would bring in the people. In June 2008 they moved into the auditorium.
They decided not to advertise or have a Church launch because they really wanted to see the Lord miraculously bring in the people; and that He did. They officially launched the Church on their 1st Birthday and today they have 140 committed people in regular attendance. During this time they have seen men, woman and children give their lives to Christ and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They are about to have their fourth water baptism service. They had their first funeral and their first wedding.
Their pastor, Paul, says “Be ready, should the Lord ask you to walk with Him, sometimes you can hardly keep up!”
